Our recreational programs are for EVERYONE!
We run our programs in 4 sessions throughout the year:
Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall.
Registration usually opens about 1 month before the session start date.

Recreational Programs
Whether you are a beginner, or returning gymnast looking for fun and fitness offered in our recreational gymnastics programs, Gymnastics Energy provides classes suitable for all ages and levels, including adult classes and drop in class times.

Please note that our facility does not have continuous parent viewing. All programs (except parent n tot) are drop off only.
We do our best to offer viewing weeks to families registered in classes throughout the session, however it is not guaranteed.
Recreational Programs
Parent n' Tot
18 – 24 months / 2 years / 3 years : 45 minutes
Parent or guardian participates along with their little one in this fun, playful class.
This program is an introduction to movement, body awareness, coordination and social interaction through a variety of games, activities and circuits on our modified gymnastics equipment.
Tiny Tumblers
N!EW 3-4 years : 45 minutes
Parent or guardian does not participate with their child.
During this class, children will be given the chance to take part in stations and activities designed to further develop their motor functions. The purpose of the class is to begin to teach these young athletes body awareness to prepare them for future gymnastics classes while working in a small group with our certified coaches.
Kindergym
Beginner, Intermediate, N!EW Development Kindergym:
4 – 5 years, 1 hour
N!EW Kinder Boys: 4 – 5 years, 1 hour
Parent or guardian does not participate with their child.
Children will receive an introduction to gymnastics through circuits on our modified gymnastics equipment. In addition to acquiring basic gymnastics skills, our programs encourage peer interaction, gross motor movement, fun and fitness. Children must be toilet trained and able to stay with the group.
Beginner Kindergym works on Kindergym Levels 1 & 2
Intermediate Kindergym works on Kindergym Levels 3 & 4
Development Kindergym works on Kindergym Levels 5 & 6
Girls Recreational
Beginner: 6+, 6 -9y & 10+, 1 Hour
Athletes are introduced to the wonderful world of gymnastics. Gymnasts will have the opportunity to explore and practice new skills on all four artistic apparatuses: Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor. This class is intended for young girls who are new to gymnastics or are coming up through our Kindergym Program. They will be learning introductory gymnastics skills such as front rolls, handstands, cartwheels, swings on bars & various walks/jumps on beam.
This program focuses on our Recreational Levels 1 & 2
Girls Recreational
Intermediate: 6 -9y & 10+, 1.5 Hours
This class is designed for young gymnasts who currently know some basics of gymnastics and want to learn new skills. They will be working towards improving the skills they already have, as well as working towards new skills.
Athletes are required to have the following basic skills to attend this class: Cartwheel, handstand, somersault, confidence walking on beam, pullover & big cast on bars.
This program will be working towards our Recreational Levels 3 & 4
Girls Recreational
NEW – INVITE ONLY Development: 6+, 2 Hours
This class is designed for young gymnasts who currently know some basics of gymnastics and want to learn new skills. They will be working towards improving the skills they already have, as well as working towards new skills.
These athletes show great talent and work super hard to be in this class! They are working on Recreational Levels 5 & 6
Girls Recreational
Advanced – Invite Only: 7+, 2 x 2 Hours
Gymnasts in this program have demonstrated strong basics, as well as strength, flexibility and excellent listening skills.
Athletes have completed recreational levels 1-6.
This class will be working towards perfecting the skills they currently have and reaching each gymnast’s individual goals. Athletes will be working on XCEL program skills for Bronze & Silver.
Beginner Boys Recreational
Ages 6+, 6-9, 1 hour
Athletes are introduced to the world of gymnastics. Classes are designed for gymnasts who want to know the basics of gymnastics and want to progress further. Both programs explore of the events: Vault, High Bar, Beam, Floor, P-Bars, Pommel, and Rings.
Athletes in this class will be working on Recreational Levels 1 & 2.
Boys Recreational
N!EW Intermediate: Ages 6+, 6-9, 1.5 Hours
Boys will continue to enhance their gymnastics skills and technique on floor, pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar. This class will also emphasize strength building, power and flexibility.
Athletes in this class will be working on Recreational Levels 3 & 4.
Tumble & Trampoline
Kinder Bounce
Ages: 4-5 years: 45 minutes
Children will learn the basics of trampoline, including important safety guidelines.
They will enjoy bouncing with us in a fun, controlled environment.
Beginner Tumble & Trampoline
6+ years: 1 hour
Athletes will work with their coach on and off the equipment to develop tumbling & trampoline basics including rolls, cartwheels, handstands, walkovers, jumps, and prepare to challenge themselves towards more advanced skills.
Intermediate Tumble & Trampoline
7+ years: 1.5 hours
Athletes will focus on learning & developing new tumbling skills, strength & flexibility. This class works mostly on the floor, tumble track & trampolines. This is a great class for young cheerleaders, dancers & gymnasts! Athlete’s will be working towards completing levels 3 + 4 of the Recreational Tumbling Program.
Prerequisite: Beginner Tumbling
Development Tumbling
10+ years: 2 hour
Athletes will focus on learning & developing new tumbling skills, strength & flexibility. This class focuses on advanced tumbling & trampoline skills.
This is a great class for cheerleaders, dancers & gymnasts who have experience with both Tumbling and trampoline
Athlete’s will be working towards completing levels 5 + 6 of the Recreational Tumble & Trampoline Program.
Prerequisite: Intermediate Tumbling
Other
Stretch & Strengthen
NEW in 2024 6-9y & 10+years: 45 minutes
This class is intended to be an “add on” option for athletes that want to progress and improve their gymnastics skills more quickly. This class will be working on bodyweight strength exercises as well as basic stretching to improve their flexibility.
Ninja 6+
6+ years: 1 hour
Athletes will attempt obstacles, experience racing challenges and test their strength, agility and coordination. They will work on strength and conditioning exercises such as push ups, rope climbing, ab crunches and more.
The goal of this class is to bring together fun and fitness!
Recreational Rhythmic
7-10 years: 1 hour
Rhythmic gymnastics uses ribbons, hoops, balls, ropes, and clubs to combine artistry with athleticism.
This is a fantastic option for athletes that enjoy dance and who possess grace and flexibility.
Parent n Tot Open Gym
NEW in 2024 1-2 years, 2-5 years: 1 hour
This Open Gym time is available for athletes 1-4 years to use our equipment. Parents must be with their child at all times throughout their time in the gym.
This is supervised by a coach, but is unstructured gym time. This is specifically for athletes to use the equipment at their own pace and leisure.
Keep in mind, there may be other classes in the gym so all equipment may not be available at all times.
Youth & Teen - Drop-In Classes
NEW in 2024 5-8 years, 9-13 years: 1 hour
This Drop in class is a structured, coach led program, open for registration weekly.
During this time, athletes will be given instruction from the coach on stations that are available to try as well as have open space to try new things on their own / at their leisure.
This class will follow a rotation schedule around the gym. Athletes must be able to listen and stay with their group.
Adult Open Gym
NEW in 2024 14+ years: 1 hour
This open gym time is available for athletes 14 years and older to use our equipment.
This is supervised by a coach, but is unstructured gym time. This is an opportunity for athletes to use the equipment at their own pace and leisure.
Keep in mind, there may be other classes in the gym so all equipment may not be available at all times.
Meet our Recreational Program Developer, Brooke Macaulay
Brooke began her gymnastics career in Hamilton training and competing in women’s artistic gymnastics with the Hamilton Wentworth Regionettes.
Prior to joining Gymnastics Energy, Brooke spent 5 years coaching WAG at Aspire Gymnastics. Energy is lucky to have Brooke, she is well loved by her athletes and peers. She builds strong relationships with her athletes by providing direct and honest feedback. She also is a great support to her fellow coaches and adds great energy to the gym.
In 2019, Brooke also stepped into the role of Recreational Program Manager. She is a great resource and always happy to answer any questions you may have!
